WHAT IS PILATES?
Pilates is a controlled and specific form of exercise that uses a mind and body connection, targeting muscles with precision giving you a leaner, stronger, more flexible body and a calmer, more relaxed mind. It focuses on joint positioning and correct movement patterns, retraining our bodies to improve stability and mobility for more efficient, mindful movement.
Although Pilates was developed in the 1920s by Joseph and Clara Pilates, it is now recommended as one of the safest forms of exercise, because it places minimum stress on joints and the heart. It can be done by anyone, from athletes to the over 80’s…
- improve your fitness levels, reduce stress and build confidence
- create better joint mobility, muscle flexibility and strength
- improve posture and restore natural movement patterns
- relieve back pain and help recover from injury
JOIN US ON THE MAT
Our matwork classes in the community focus on correct alignment and core control. Each session will build on the skills learnt the previous week, so there is natural progression over the course of classes.
We use small equipment including yoga blocks, stretch bands, over-balls and occasionally the tennis ball! Following covid, we now require everyone to buy their own equipment for health and safety.
Or why not try out the Pilates Reformer and studio equipment?
We also offer Reformer Pilates in our private studio. Reformer Pilates is a great way to improve your movement technique.
The Reformer uses springs as a resistance which helps you progress in your Pilates journey much quicker than on the mat alone.
TRY OUT THE EQUIPMENT
We also offer Pilates on the Studio Equipment, the Reformer, cadillac and Chair.
The Studio Equipment uses springs as a resistance which helps you progress with your Pilates practice much quicker than on the mat alone.
